Artisanal Candle Maintenance
Essential Care Rituals for a Perfect Flame — TAOE3

Maintaining an artisanal candle is a refined and simple ritual. A few precise, consistent gestures are enough to preserve a clean burn, a steady flame, and the lasting elegance of your TAOE3 candle.
1) Trim the wick — the essential gesture
Before each relight, trim the wick to approximately 5 mm (¼ inch). A wick that is too long can create a high flame, smoke, and faster wax consumption. A wick that is too short may struggle to stay lit.
- Trim the wick only when the wax is completely cool.
- Remove any debris or burnt wick fragments before lighting.
- Recenter the wick gently if it has shifted.
2) Prevent tunneling
Tunneling occurs when wax melts only in the center. To prevent this, always allow the wax to melt evenly across the surface, especially during the first few burns.
- Prefer burn sessions of 2 to 3 hours.
- Avoid extinguishing too early—allow the wax to fully pool to the edges.
3) Control burn duration
To preserve wax integrity and fragrance quality, do not exceed 3 to 4 hours of continuous burning. Allow the candle to cool completely before relighting.
4) Minimize soot and smoke
Black smoke is often caused by an untrimmed wick, drafts, or excessive burn time. Proper maintenance will restore a clean, elegant flame.
- Keep the wick trimmed (5 mm / ¼ inch).
- Avoid drafts (open windows, ventilation, heavy foot traffic).
- Use a snuffer instead of blowing out the flame.
5) Keep the vessel immaculate
For a refined presentation and optimal burn, keep the wax surface clean. Remove any debris such as matches, wick trimmings, or dust. If needed, gently wipe the rim of the vessel once the wax has cooled.
6) Store with care
Store your TAOE3 candles in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Proper storage preserves color, wax texture, and fragrance subtlety.
Pro Tips
For hotels, restaurants & wellness spaces
For a consistently impeccable presentation, establish a simple maintenance routine:
- Daily wick inspection (length and centering).
- Controlled burn sessions (2–3 hours), followed by full cooling.
- Avoid draft-heavy areas (entrances, hallways, air conditioning).
- Replace candles before wax drops below 1 cm.
